When God Doesn;t Heal Now

WHEN GOD DOESN'T HEAL NOW

by Larry Keefauver is a thoughtful, insightful, powerful book about Jesus, the Healer, and His healing virtue. Keefauver tackles one of the toughest topics of faith head on: When God doesn't heal now, what then? Many people have faith. But immediate healing doesn't always happen, even with towering faith. The Healer moves and works according to His will and timetable. Sometimes that does not agree with ours. What then? Do we become shipwrecked when God doesn't answer our request on time? Isn't God always willing to heal his children? If I am not healed instantly, what does that say about my faith? Prayer? His word? sin? Does God still love me even though He hasn't healed me? What do I do now? What does God always do, if healing isn't on the list? Keefauver considers and answers all of these questions and more, in a tender, sweet, wise, scriptural way. I have read this book twice. The first time I thought Keefauver had missed the point - God always heals. After all, we have Isaiah 53, Matthew 8:17, 1 Peter 2:24. All we have to do is to lay hold of God's promises, stand on His word, have faith and believe....really hard. Marl 11:24 says to "believe and receive". Anything less than that, to say that God heals everyone in heaven was a copout, I felt. Years later, I have seen, firsthand, situations where faithful believers in The Healer stood on those promises and yet suffered or died from sickness without an immediate, supernatural healing. It can rock your faith in our invisible God. Where can you safely stand? Where is the Rock? He is still there. Majestically, powerfully, lovingly there to carry us through - healed or hurt- with grace and mercy and strength. God is always for us, always with us. His posture is always to do good for us. Why and how and when are His domain. That's what faith is for. To still believe when we cannot see.
